Ode to Spam

26 08 2014

Oh viagra, SEO optimization,

Oh payday loans and enhanced breasts.

Such a multitude of mindless copied comments

Spam, spam, spam in my comment moderation box.

Does it make you feel slick, like you’re spray painting graffiti on a wall?

Do you think I actually read your garbage strewn in my virtual yard?

It must reward you with something at your dead-end email addresses with your fake names and websites.

Your constant repetitive insanity – do you really expect anything from your spewing?

Oh payday loans, viagra, enhanced breasts, SEO optimization, salacious dating, gambling, and more.

It would be incredible if you’d keep your mindlessness to yourselves.

Spam, spam, spam in my comment moderation box.

Thanks, Linda. It just sort of appeared on the screen after a thorough cleaning of my comment moderation box. Such a shame those people waste their time like that and waste ours having to clean up their mess. Have a great day.

“Single men over the age of 50 want to meet you!”
Umm, no. No, they don’t

Got that right. Do they really think the majority of us are that stupid?

It looks like Outlook got hacked. Lots of spam from just Outlook addresses, no websites. Wish those idiots would get housebroken so the rest of us didn’t have to keep cleaning up their poop.

Think, though, of all the lonely, pitiful people who send this stuff….

I have. It would actually be more positive for them to comment in a useful way instead of dropping the trash they do. It’s almost tempting to start a blog with nothing but the spam as posts – not that anyone would read it. Would it not be better to start a blog and say what you really want/need to say instead of leaving such stupid stuff in blog comments?

Spam is getting more and more invasive….and just so relentless!

I’m almost tempted to use them for blog posts, maybe “The Spam Blog: Where Spam Is It”. It’d get very boring tho, I keep getting multiple copies of the same garbage from different senders. Oh well, too bad we can’t spam them back.

Aquila, we did a post called “Please Don’t” addressed to these people, that we try to post on their sites, but it doesn’t work. They don’t care, just play their numbers game. Most of the time there is no way to even leave feedback! The one time one of these trolls responded to me, she chided me for not allowing her to “drive traffic” to my site! As if a bogus business scheme has anything to do with medieval architecture. We feel your pain, my friend.

It occasionally reminds me of picking up the dog pooh in my back yard, necessary job but not pleasant (did finally teach the boys to pooh on command and into the pooper scooper). I decided to put this up and, surprise, my spam has actually decreased. Of course now that I’ve written that it’ll probably go back up again. It is maddening.

You made my point…and my day 🙂 . And in a newer post, I stand right there beside you yelling “WTF? This ol’ Gal LIKED the old stats and less improved posting experience!”
Thanks for allowing my self ventilation!

You know, it’s funny, but since I posted the Ode to Spam the amounts of it dropped like an anchor. Thanks for the follow.
