“Sshh! Mustn’t make any noise.”

“I don’t like it here. I want to go home.”

“We can’t, it’s gone. Remember?”

“Oh, … yeah.”

“Just be quiet.”

“Why isn’t there any light? I don’t like the dark, not when it’s this dark.”

“We’re in a cave, silly. There’s no light in caves. Not down away from the opening.”

“I’m cold.”

“Hush, you might wake it.”

“What? Wake what?”

“The thing that lives here, in this cave.”

“Please, can’t we leave?”

“Where would we go? We’ve got no home anymore. It’s just the two of us now.”

“Why do we have to hide?”

“Because.”

“That’s not a reason, you know it isn’t “

“I just know we have to, that’s all.”

“I want a nice hot bath, food too, I want some food.”

“We don’t have any.”

“What was that?”

“I told you to be quiet, I think you woke it.”

“I’m scared.”

“Sshh!”

“I want to leave now. Wake up, it’s cold in here. Let’s go, please?”

“Please, wake up? Why won’t you wake up?”

“I’m so cold. Please? We don’t have to hide anymore.”

“I want to go home. I want Mama and Papa. Wake up!”

“Cold. Want Mama.”

Nice piece. I like how it makes you think one thing at the beginning and then there is the twist. Very telling none the less. Thanks.
